Inspired by her love of sci-fi, old Taiwanese dramas, and ridiculous anime, Judy scribbles mini-stories wherever she can (and subsequently forgets them!). Her debut novel, The Vending Portal, is an award-winning cozy, soft-sci-fi, dystopian fantasy. With her writing, Liu hopes to meaningfully add to Asian American literature to further enrich the YA genre. She studied history, Asian studies, and education before spending some time living in rural Japan and returning to Texas.

Outside of work and writing, Judy is a perpetually tired human being who teeters on the paradox of enjoying collecting various hobbies and rotting on the couch. She enjoys dancing with her teammates and friends, exploring unknown spots or cities, smelling incense, and making nonsense sounds to her sister.
